Do you have broken, cracked or severely damaged teeth? If so, you may be an excellent candidate for dental crowns to restore your teeth. When teeth are too badly decayed, broken or cracked and can’t be restored with a dental filling, dental crowns are placed to strengthen the dental crown and restore your natural tooth instead of replacing it with a prosthetic alternative. Unlike the majority of the body, teeth do not have extensive healing capabilities. As a result, once the tooth enamel (or surface) of the tooth is injured in some manner, it does not have the ability to heal itself.

The Perfect Fit

Dental crowns are a tooth-shaped restoration that slips over your prepared tooth and is secured in place using cementing chemicals. Crowns come in a variety of materials such as precious metals, ceramic or porcelain. Crowns typically fix broken, cracked or otherwise damaged teeth to restore it/them to its original shape and appearance. Modern dental crowns now match your natural teeth making it difficult for people to know that you even have a replacement tooth. Dr. Valentine and Dr. Aboulhosn at Icon Dental Center utilize dental crowns to stabilize and restore damaged teeth. Our dental crowns are precision-engineered to create a beautiful fit and restore full functionality to the injured tooth. Crowns are normally needed for teeth that have had root canals or placed on dental implantsto replace missing teeth.

Benefits of Crowns

  • Dental crown restorations look like your natural teeth
  • Replace missing teeth
  • Offer support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
  • Can improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth
  • Finish a dental implant
  • Prevent the further damage of teeth
  • Seal teeth after root canal therapy

  • Encase a dental implant

Procera Crowns

Procera dental crowns are an all-cermaic restoration that has successfully taken metal out of the mix. These types of crowns can match your teeth’s color and translucency so well that they’re impossible to distinguish from the real thing – which is one of the many reasons we chose this type of dental crown at Icon Dental Center. Advantage of Procera Crowns include:
  • Exact color matching to your natural teeth
  • Restoration is invisible to onlookers
  • No metal base
  • Engineered to encourage your gums to grow back
  • Custom, perfect fit

Procedure Duration

We want to make sure you get a dental crown that will last which is why our dental crown treatments take at least 2 visits to our office. During the first visit we will remove decay, shape the tooth and fit it with a temporary crown made of either plastic or metal. At the second visit, we will remove the temporary crown, fit and adjust the final crown and cement the crown into place. The cost of dental crown procedures vary based on a number of factors, including Size, location and condition of the original tooth, and the need for additional procedures, such as a root canal. We encourage you to review your insurance plan informationregarding coverage for this treatment. We are more than happy to answer any additional questions you may have, or to help you schedule a consultation to determine if a crown is needed to correct any dental issues you’re experiencing.
