An orthodontist completes two to three years of specialist training beyond dental school, focused entirely on moving teeth and correcting bites. A general dentist does not.

Your Options
Braces or Invisalign?
Braces are fixed to the teeth and work continuously, so nothing depends on remembering to wear them. They handle complex movements that aligners can’t, and they’re usually the more economical option.
Best for: complex cases, younger patients, anyone who’d rather not manage removable trays.
Invisalign uses clear removable trays, changed every week or two. Barely visible, and you take them out to eat and brush. They need wearing 20 to 22 hours a day to work.
Best for: adults and older teens, milder to moderate cases, anyone who wants treatment to be discreet.
Dr. Sohrabi will tell you which is realistic for your teeth. Not every case suits aligners, and we’d rather say so at the consultation than partway through treatment.

It depends on how complex the case is and how long treatment takes, which is why we won’t quote a figure before seeing your teeth. You’ll get a written estimate at your consultation.

- Whether any preparatory work is needed first
- Whether retainers are included
Will Insurance Cover It?
Many dental plans include orthodontic coverage, often with a lifetime maximum rather than an annual one. We’ll check yours and tell you where you stand before you commit.
