As the wire straightens over time, your teeth gradually shift position. However, it is common for a bracket or band to become unglued or feel loose. While a loose bracket or band early in treatment may not significantly impact progress, delaying repairs at the end of treatment can add months to your overall treatment time. If the pain is severe, you must contact your orthodontist. For ongoing discomfort, the orthodontist will likely schedule an appointment for you the same day or the next day.
