Why Patients Choose Us
One Practice for the Whole Family
Everyone in one place. Children from six months, parents, grandparents. All our general dentists are trained in pediatric care, so family appointments can be booked together.
Specialists in the building. If a cleaning turns up gum disease or a bite problem, our periodontist and orthodontist are here. No referral across town, no starting again with someone new.
Seen by the same dentist. You see the people you already know, and they have your history in front of them.
We will tell you when nothing needs doing. Not every checkup ends in treatment. Most do not.
Your Exam
What We Check, and Why
- Your gums and soft tissues, for early signs of inflammation or disease
- An oral cancer screening
- Signs of decay, damage or wear
- Existing fillings, crowns and other work, for stability
- Digital X-rays where needed, to see what is below the surface
Most of what matters happens before you feel anything. Decay under a filling, gum disease starting between teeth, a cracked cusp. None of those hurt until they have progressed. That is the point of looking.
Your Cleaning
What a Professional Cleaning Actually Removes
Brushing and flossing handle plaque. Once plaque hardens into tartar, no amount of brushing shifts it, and tartar sits below the gumline where a brush cannot reach anyway.
Your cleaning includes:
- Removing tartar and plaque from the teeth and along the gumline
- Polishing away surface stains
- Fluoride treatment where it is useful
- A practical look at your brushing and flossing, if you want one
Comfort
Thorough Without Being Rough
Our hygienists are thorough without being rough. If cleanings have been uncomfortable elsewhere, say so at the start rather than partway through.
Two Different Things
Regular Cleaning or Deep Cleaning?
People often assume a deep cleaning is just a more thorough version of a regular one. They are different procedures for different problems.
A regular cleaning works above and just below the gumline, and it is what most people need twice a year.
A deep cleaning, properly called scaling and root planing, goes below the gumline to clean root surfaces where gum disease has created pockets. It is usually done under local anesthetic, often over more than one visit, and it is treatment rather than prevention.
If your gums bleed regularly, or you have been told you have pockets, that is the conversation to have. We will tell you honestly which you need.
How Often
Twice a Year Suits Most People
Every six months suits most people, and most dental plans cover two cleanings a year on that basis.
More often if you have a history of gum disease, get frequent cavities, smoke, are pregnant, or wear braces or aligners. Braces in particular make thorough brushing harder, and three-monthly cleanings during treatment are common.
If it has been years rather than months, that is fine. We will look at where things are and work from there.
No Judgment
If You Have Not Been in Years
Plenty of people go a long time between visits. Sometimes it is cost, sometimes a bad experience, sometimes life just got in the way.
Nobody here is going to lecture you. We will look at where things are now, tell you what needs attention and what does not, and work out an order to do it in that suits you. Often it is less than people fear.
If dental anxiety is what has kept you away, say so when you book. We have sedation options and we would rather know in advance.
Cost & Payment
What Does a Cleaning and Exam Cost?
Cost depends on whether you are a new patient, whether X-rays are needed, and what your plan covers. We will tell you what to expect before your appointment rather than at the desk afterwards.
Does insurance cover it?
Most dental insurance covers two cleanings and exams a year, often at 100%, because prevention costs insurers less than treatment. We will check your specific benefits and let you know what is covered.

If you do not have insurance
Tell us when you book and we will go through the options. CareCredit is available for larger treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Usually 45 minutes to an hour. We try to respect your time and stay on schedule.
No. We take them based on your history, your current symptoms and your risk level, not by default.
Most plans cover two a year, often in full. We will check your benefits before your visit.
No judgment. We will assess where things are and put together a plan that works for you, in an order that makes sense.
A regular cleaning is prevention, above and just below the gumline. A deep cleaning treats gum disease by cleaning root surfaces below the gumline, usually with local anesthetic. Different procedures for different problems.
No, though it is common. Bleeding gums usually mean inflammation, which is the earliest stage of gum disease and reversible at that point. Worth mentioning at your visit.
